Screw compressor motor burning is a more common but more complex problem, the main reasons usually include the following aspects:
Electrical aspect
- Power supply problem: too high or too low voltage will make the motor current abnormal, increasing the risk of motor heating or even burning. When the three-phase power supply is unbalanced, the current of each phase is uneven, which will lead to local overheating of the motor.
- Motor failure: the insulation of the motor winding is aging and damaged, which will cause short circuit between the winding or between the winding and the iron core. In addition, bearing wear after long-term use of the motor will cause friction between the rotor and the stator, increase the motor load, and cause the motor to overheat and burn out.
- Control circuit fault: if the contactor contact is poor, it will produce an arc, making the motor power supply unstable. The thermal relay setting value is not properly set, and the motor cannot be protected because it does not act during the operation.
Mechanical aspect
- Compressor overload: too much or too little refrigerant in the system, too high condensing pressure, and too low evaporation pressure will increase the compressor load, resulting in motor overload. Equipment for a long time high load operation or frequent start and stop, will also make the motor overheating, accelerate insulation aging.
Mechanical jam: internal parts of screw compressor wear and deformation, such as screw and screw, screw and shell clearance is too small or foreign matter into, will cause mechanical jam, motor resistance moment increase, current increase and burn.
Environment and maintenance
- Poor heat dissipation: the motor is installed in a small space with poor ventilation, and the heat cannot be dissipated. Dust, oil accumulated on the motor surface or heat sink, will affect the heat dissipation effect. Cooling system failures, such as fan failures and clogged cooling water lines, can also lead to excessive motor temperatures.
- Lack of maintenance: the motor and compressor are not inspected and maintained regularly, and problems such as aging insulation and wear of components cannot be detected and dealt with in time. Long-term use of inferior lubricating oil will affect the lubrication effect and increase friction.
