What are the characteristics of the tube evaporator and the air cooler evaporator?
As a key component of the refrigeration system, the cold storage evaporator plays a core role in achieving a low-temperature storage environment. They are heat exchange equipment installed inside the warehouse, and together with the compressor, condenser and throttling device, they constitute the four core components of the refrigeration system. Through the process of liquid refrigerant absorbing heat inside the evaporator and evaporating into gas, the cold storage evaporator can effectively absorb the heat in the warehouse, thereby reducing the temperature and achieving the purpose of refrigeration.
1. Main types of cold storage evaporators
Cold storage evaporators are mainly divided into two categories: row tube evaporators and air cooler evaporators. These two evaporators have their own characteristics in terms of structure, working principle, applicable scenarios and maintenance requirements.
1. Row tube evaporator Row tube evaporators are usually fixedly installed on the wall or top of the warehouse, and use natural convection to achieve the flow of cooling air. Its significant features include:
• Efficient heat transfer: The structural design of the row tube evaporator ensures sufficient contact between the refrigerant and the cooled medium, thereby improving the overall heat transfer efficiency.
• Energy saving and power saving: Compared with air coolers, the tube evaporator uses less refrigerant, which helps reduce energy consumption and achieve energy saving.
• Uniform cooling: The uniform distribution of the tubes makes the temperature in the warehouse more uniform, which is particularly suitable for storing products that are sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
However, there are also some problems with the tube evaporator. For example, the accumulation of frost will affect the heat transfer efficiency, so a defrosting device is required; at the same time, the tube evaporator occupies a large space, which may cause some troubles in the stacking and cleaning of goods.
Features:
• Good thermal conductivity, especially aluminum tubes, because of their high thermal conductivity, can improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
• Operation under natural convection mode is advantageous for maintaining cargo humidity.
• Small space occupation and balanced distribution, which helps to save energy and electricity.
• Suitable for long-term storage of products that are easy to lose water, such as fresh fruits and vegetables.
2. Air cooler evaporator
Air cooler evaporators are mostly hung on the top or side of the warehouse, and the cooling process is accelerated by the forced ventilation of the fan. This type of evaporator is more common in high-temperature cold storage, especially in Freon refrigeration systems. Its advantages include:
Fast cooling: The air cooler can quickly reduce the temperature in the warehouse through the forced ventilation mechanism, which is very suitable for items that need to be frozen quickly.
Easy to defrost: The air cooler is usually equipped with a highly automated defrosting function, which reduces the need for manual intervention and improves work efficiency.
However, there are some shortcomings of the air cooler, such as high power consumption during operation, and it may cause unpackaged food to lose water and dry. Therefore, when choosing, it is necessary to weigh it according to the specific application requirements.
Features:
Fast cooling speed, suitable for occasions that require rapid cooling.
Due to the existence of forced convection, it can provide better temperature uniformity.
The humidity control in the warehouse is better, but it may cause product moisture loss (air drying).
It is relatively easy to install and disassemble, especially for tall cold storage spaces.
2. Selection and application of cold storage evaporators
When selecting cold storage evaporators, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as the type of warehouse, the characteristics of the stored items, the refrigeration requirements, and cost-effectiveness. For example:
• For warehouses that need to store fresh fruits and vegetables and other products that are easy to lose water for a long time, the tube evaporator may be a better choice because it can provide a more uniform refrigeration effect and reduce the water loss of food.
• For warehouses that pursue rapid freezing effects, such as quick-freezing warehouses, air coolers may be more suitable because they can quickly reduce the temperature in the warehouse and meet the needs of rapid freezing.
In addition, with the increase in transportation costs and installation, small and medium-sized cold storages also tend to consider cost-effectiveness when selecting evaporators. Fir inherits small size, low installation cost, and overall low acquisition cost and is preferred.
